Not every group meets with the approval for the community. In this thread a poster takes large issue with our name. Thus EXACTLY why we call ourselves THE Brigade or just simply the CFB. The “Crappy” portion of our name, which has been criticized in 12″ Collector and as you see here, the 3.75″ Collector communities. Considering we are 5 years old now, it would be hard to justify and explain a name change, so we’ll cope with it as best we can. But remember, this is meant to be fun, irregardless of what our name is.

Can you believe this!? GOOGLE ROCKS!!  Ol’ Flint started a CFB page on MySpace!!  No one has logged in since Janurary of 2006, but here it is folks.  Check it out!

    CFB MySpace Page

Just in case history tries to take this away from us, here is a look back into our forming!

CFB was formed July 4th at the 40th Anniversary G.I. Joe dinner at Epcot Center in Orlando Florida. Other names offered were ‘Friends of Golobulus’ & ‘D.O.G. (Defenders of Golobulus). Prior to the dinner things fate was stirring when some of use created the Golobulus ‘patch’ to greet fellow collectors

During the dinner, 2 dozen of us were split at differents tables, but still had the same agenda. To create a club that can meet at the conventions and be a force to compete with the older, 12″ Joe collectors, the D.O.B. (Defenders of Bullet Man). While they worship one lone lame duck from their youth, we celebrate and adore all that Hasbro didn’t put too much thought into. A Hall of Shame was set up. We had to have figures to fill it. It was decided 3 figures would go in the inagural year, with 1 being inducted every convention. Our 2 mascots, Crystal Ball and Golobulus were shoe-ins. The third was decided. It would be Raptor. At the 2005 show in Minnesota, Battle Corps Leatherneck was voted in and a new wing of the Hall was added. The Decommisioned Junk Yard. Basically all the lame vehicles would be placed here.   From the Ninja Force line came the Ninja Lightning Cycle and Ninja Force Piledriver.  Also voted in was the Fort America playset.   Rules were also set up as to how a toy gets voted in.   Only group members at that years convention get to vote.   Group members who do not go can nominate prior to the show, but attendees get final say.   How do you join, you ask? By simply attending a Master Collector G.I. Joe convention of course!

Everyone remember this little gem from the Collectors’ Club in 2008? We’re just a few weeks away from our favorite date-of-fooling, so beware what you see posted by the club. However, if the club tries a repeat, we’ll be sure to capitalize!

We’re just 5 months away from the 2009 GI Joe Convention in Kansas City, Missouri!!  2009 also marks the 5th Anniversary of the CFB!  To celebrate this monumental accomplishment, we are launching our new web page.  There is nothing here now, but in the future you will find information about the group, its officers, official meeting minutes (which include voting results), and our infamous Hall of Shame!  Subscribe to our RSS and Twitter feeds and check back often.
